Antibodies
Accademia d’Egitto di Belle Arti a Roma, Rome, Italy
Curated by Davide Dormino and Fabrizio Dell’Arno
From 10 to 14 April 2025 Jasmijn Doukje had the chance to show her work in “ANTIBODIES” at the Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
This exhibition explored art’s role as a social antibody; a force that not only responds, resists, and reflects the world around us, but also questions and reinterprets societal challenges, highlighting the complexities and contradictions that shape our world today.
The painting on display called Donker Paars was inspired by the traditional clothing of the town Bunschoten-Spakenburg in the Netherlands and the towns outlook on grief and the use of different fabrics in this process. The work is a part of a tryptic depicting women in different stages of grief called Rouw Kent Geen Tijd.
