CALL TO THE ARTS FOR THE PALESTINIAN RED CRESCENT
Museo del Fiume di Nazzano, Nazzano (RM) Italy
Curated by THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HANDS and FARI CALURI
I donated this work to an exhibition at the Museo del Fiume di Nazzano, organized to raise funds for the Palestinian Red Crescent.
As a reference for this painting I used a picture of my late grandpa’s garden full of anemone coronaria flowers. This flower’s nickname is the Palestinian poppy, as it is also the national flower of Palestine. As a symbol of grief I have used a traditional dot work technique that originated in Staphorst, the Netherlands. I have chosen to mainly use the color blue in this dot work pattern, as this color is used in times of grief.
